Meet Teresa

Teresa Jorgensen is a dedicated public servant and Idaho native running for re-election to the Garden City Council, where she has served since her appointment by Mayor John Evans in September 2020 and subsequent election in 2021. With a passion for fostering sustainable growth and enhancing community well-being, Teresa brings a wealth of experience and a commitment to maintaining Garden City’s unique character while addressing its evolving needs.

Teresa is an Idaho native and moved to Garden City in 2011. She began her career at Micron Technology, where she worked for 17 years in the semiconductor industry, rising through various roles after starting in production straight out of high school. She received training from Micron engineers and took courses at Boise State University, showcasing her dedication to lifelong learning. Currently, Teresa serves as a Regional Sales Manager for Fisher’s Technology, a Garden City-based company specializing in photocopiers and printers. Her professional experience has equipped her with strong leadership and problem-solving skills, which she applies to her work on the council.

Since joining the Garden City Council, Teresa has been a tireless advocate for her community. She is particularly proud of her efforts to promote resources to combat domestic violence, collaborating with the Women and Children’s Alliance to bring support services to the city’s library branch. She has also worked with Ada County officials to address speeding on the Greenbelt, improving safety for residents. Teresa’s leadership extends beyond the council. She is currently President of the Garden City Chamber of Commerce. Her contributions have been recognized with prestigious honors, including being named one of the Idaho Business Review’s Women of the Year in 2010 and in 2022. She was also recognized in the WCA’s Tribute to Women in Industry award in 2017.

Teresa is committed to guiding Garden City through its rapid growth and ongoing transformation into a local destination for unique blend of arts, outdoor recreation, and craft beverage scene. With the upcoming retirement of longtime Mayor John Evans, she emphasizes the importance of experienced leadership to navigate the city’s financial challenges and maintain essential services like the dedicated Garden City Police Department, a priority for residents.

Teresa supports balanced development, advocating for code changes that align with the city’s comprehensive plan to ensure sustainable growth. She believes in a flexible zoning approach that encourages developers to include affordable housing options, preserving opportunities for diverse neighborhoods while allowing market-driven innovation.

Teresa is focused on making tough budgetary decisions in leaner financial times, prioritizing critical services while carefully evaluating projects like Greenbelt improvements. Her vote on the Boise River Club housing proposal, where she pushed for design compromises to align with existing neighborhoods, reflects her commitment to balancing growth with community character. She endorses Council Member Bill Jacobs for mayor, believing his experience will complement her vision for continuity and progress.

Teresa is a proud mother of three and a pet parent to Copper the “fur baby.” In her free time, she enjoys traveling, sailing, hiking in the Boise foothills, and walking the Greenbelt. Her love for Idaho’s outdoor opportunities fuels her dedication to preserving Garden City’s quality of life for all residents.

She invites residents to support her re-election to continue delivering experienced, thoughtful leadership for Garden City.
